Located on the Costa Brava South, Tossa de Mar is an ancient fishing village with a great history, which over time to become an iconic tourist destination. In the village you can visit several places and cultural monuments. One is the medieval walled town “Vila Vella” (s.XII). The archaeological subtraction was a Roman villa “Els Ametllers” (s.IV). Also the Church of San Vincente and Capilla del Socors (s.XVIII).
Imagine a place where you can travel back in time to the scenes of the past. Tossa de Mar is a real open-air museum. Its prehistoric vestiges give way to a Roman Turissa, a medieval Tursa and a modern Tossa, first turned into a refuge of artists and intellectuals and later in generous host of tourists and visitors. There is nothing like approaching our historic city and getting lost in it between our alleys and ramparts.
It is especially advisable to dare to climb up to the lighthouse, crossing the enclosure of the wall imagining ancient scenes of time, as invasions or battles, to climb to the canons that still decorate the outer walls and to defend the city of the pirates, as they did the old inhabitants from town.
This history can only be recreated here, in our village, as it is the only example of a medieval fortified population that still exists on the Catalan coast, and which helps to give an idea of the importance it has for the inhabitants of the town, as a Respect for their past and pride of their present.
So it is a pleasure to say that our small and charming village is a unique place on the Mediterranean coast.
You can also find magnificent natural spaces, such as its fantastic beaches. Here you will find the characteristic coves of our coasts such as Cala Salionç, located to the north of the municipality, which is an ideal place for diving.
Cala Giverola, between Tossa and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, with its characteristic horseshoe shape, where you can enjoy the colorful colors that nature can offer, or Cala Futadera, the wildest of all, where you will feel surrounded by cliffs covered Of pine and vegetation.
You will also find the Cadiretes Massif, with peaks of up to 518 meters between forests of holm oaks and pines, or the Park of Sa Riera, a public green space located next to the Camping, next to the stream of Tossa de Mar.
